Five kilometres away from the city centre of mesmerizing Blue City of Jodhpur, lay a lake of mythical proportions known by the name Balsamand Lake. This stupendous lake was designed as a water basin, which extends over a kilometre in length, fifty meters in breadth, and fifteen meters in depth. Although the lake was built in the 12th century, the magnificent red stone palace that flanks the lake was built in the 17th century by Maharaja Jaswant Singh I of Jodhpur. In recent years, the exquisite palace has been transformed into one of the best heritage hotels in Jodhpur - WelcomHeritage Bal Samand Lake Palace. It now stands as a testament of old-world charm and modern muse fused together.
